Title: Community Meeting on Mangrove Site

Date: 2008-03-07

Description:

Councilmember Jan Perry and the Office of the Chief Legislative Analyst invite all community members to an informational briefing on the 1st and Alameda Request for Proposal (RFP).

Wednesday, March 12, 2008
6:00 – 7:30 PM
Japanese American National Museum
369 E. First Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012

The City has undergone a RFP process to select a buyer and developer of the City-owned parcel at 1st and Alameda Streets. The three finalists for the city-owned parcel (a.k.a. the Mangrove site) will present their proposed development concepts for the site. The purpose of this meeting is strictly informational.

The Mangrove site is the largest remaining parcel to be developed in Little Tokyo. It will be located next to our neighborhood's Gold Line light rail station, serving as an entryway for thousands of commuters and visitors. It presents an opportunity to create housing (both market-rate and affordable), jobs and business opportunities for the community. The type and design of the project to be built here will have a tremendous impact on Little Tokyo and the Arts District.

To RSVP please contact Marie Rumsey at or 213.473.2309.
